Error: Not able to open SQL configuration manager | WMI error | Invalid class [0x80041010]

Couple of days back ,Infrastructure team have clone one of our SQL servers to create multiple servers and since we are not able to open new SQL Server Configuration manager on new servers. We are getting below error.

Error: Cannot connect to WMI provider. You do not have permission or the server is unreachable. Note that you can only manage SQL Server 2005 and later servers with SQL Server Configuration Manager. Invalid class [0x80041010]

After bit digging we found its Microsoft bug. This problem occurs because the WMI provider is removed when you uninstall an instance of SQL Server. The 32-bit instance and the 64-bit instance of SQL Server share the same WMI configuration file. This file is located in the %programfiles(x86)% folder.

Solution:

       1. Go to path “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof” and verify if this file exists

     2. Open Command Prompt with run as administrator
     3. Navigate to C: drive and run this command “mofcomp "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft SQL Server\number\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof” , here number is your version, 120 for Sql 2014

    4. Now try to open configuration manger

This doesn’t required any restart for SQL Services
